Calmer, an organisation working to support the mental health of entrepreneurs, freelancers and business teams has won the ‘Mental Health Campaign of the Year Award’ for the Reignite Project at the inaugural This Can Happen Awards 2019 which was hosted by Coutts, held in London on 21st November 2019.

The awards which were judged by senior industry leaders, were launched to celebrate and recognise companies and individuals who have shown excellence in their approach towards positive mental health for their employees and colleagues.

‘The Calmer team are thrilled to have won this amazing award and to be recognised for our work on the Reignite Project, a five-year campaign designed to help prevent burnout in 600,000 UK entrepreneurs by 2023,’ says Tania Diggory, founder and director of Calmer.

‘We faced some stiff competition and were up against industry heavyweights including Barclays, Virgin Trains and MediaCom all of whom are doing incredible work to improve mental well-being in the workplace,’ adds Tania.

With just under 5.7 million entrepreneurs, freelancers and small businesses making up the workforce in the UK, the start-up revolution is here to stay. But, with over 60% of entrepreneurs experiencing burnout, small business owners who are struggling to manage their mental health need help to reduce stress and improve their wellbeing. The Reignite Project, a free 10 week e-course helps entrepreneurs and business teams to learn to identify and prevent burnout.

‘Given the broad variety of challenges entrepreneurs and their teams face on a daily basis, we believe it’s vital that this community of professionals receive access to empowering resources that help to reduce stress and improve well-being,’ concludes Tania.

The Mental Health Campaign of The Year Award was presented to Calmer by judge Monika Misra, Head of Employee Health and Wellbeing Europe, GlaxoSmithKline.  The judges commented: ‘An innovative programme which recognises there isn’t a one size fits all – different to the other entries. Excellent.

‘Broad impact on a sector that can be isolated… Appears a focused and accessible resource for a group of professionals that are underserved.’
