Antoinette Schembri is currently a postgraduate student at the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick. In 1997, she obtained her undergraduate degree in History and English from the University of Malta. In 2000, she graduated with a master’s degree in History. She also holds a diploma in Library and Information Studies from the University of Malta (2003). In 2013 she completed her MSc in Educational Leadership from the University of Leicester. Her dissertation was on the perceptions of educational leaders on the newly published Maltese curriculum framework. Antoinette commenced her PhD in 2015, focusing on alternative provisions of education for students who are habitual absentees and early school leavers. She is currently gathering data for her PhD.

Antoinette has presented her ongoing research in conferences held in Warwick and Bonn. Her paper and poster presentations have been well received by both academics and practitioners within the field of education. She has also been in the organising committee of the postgraduate conference organised annually by the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick. She is also an editorial board member for Psychreg Journal of Psychology.

These areas of research are of particular research to Antoinette: (i) alternative education provision (ii) early school leaving (iii) absenteeism; and, (iv) character and gender in education. You can follow her on Twitter @AntSchembri
